In my opinion, the first option is the best to reach Rudraprayag if you are traveling from Delhi. There is an overnight UTC bus which goes directly to Srinagar. It departs from ISBT Kashmiri gate at 9.30 PM.

From Srinagar Rudraprayag is only 33 km and it takes just over an hour to reach from Srinagar. There are local buses starting from as early as 6.00 AM going towards Rudraprayag and even further.

As far as second option is concerned you first reach Rishikesh or Haridwar. From there you might get a direct bus to Rudraprayag or bus ply regularly to Srinagar.

Using this option only makes sense if you reach way early in the morning. Bus ply regularly to Rishikesh and Haridwar from Delhi.

Also please note that you might you have stay for the night at Srinagar if you reach late in the evening.

To reach Rudraprayag from Dehradun, there are shared cabs and buses available. There might be shared cabs running from Dehradun towards Rudraprayag and further but I am not sure.

If not you can always first reach Rishikesh and Haridwar from Dehradun. Buses and shared cabs are available at regular intervals from Haridwar and Rishikesh.

Even if you don’t get a direct bus to Rudraprayag, make sure you catch at least a bus going to Srinagar. From Srinagar, you now that Rudraprayag is just an hour with plenty of buses and cabs plying regularly.

From Rishikesh and Haridwar buses and shared cabs start as early as 4 AM in the morning. The total distance from Dehradun to Rudraprayag is around 175 km.

Reaching Rudraprayag from Rishikesh is fairly Simple. Buses and shared cabs going towards Rudraprayag start as early as 4 AM in the morning.

You’ll continue to get buses throughout the day going towards Rudraprayag and beyond like Ukhimath, Guptkashi, Joshimath etc.

So just hop on to anyone of the buses. Even if you get a bus going only till Srinagar, you can always find plenty of buses and shared cabs going towards Rudraprayag during the day.

The total distance from Rishikesh to Rudraprayag is around 140 km. And takes around 5-6 hours in buses. Shared cabs will be a bit quicker.

Again like Rishikesh, You’ll find buses and shared cabs going towards Rudraprayag and beyond quite early in the morning.

For instance, I had boarded a bus from Sari village in Rudraprayag district which was going all the way to Haridwar at 6.30 AM in the morning. I am pretty sure that reverse service also exists.
